As part of our Hauora Programme, Hillcrest High School hosted ‘Everybody’s Game’ on Monday morning for our Yr. 10 students. Along with Founder and Director Thomas Nabbs, Hillcrest hosted former student and Football Fern Katie Duncan and former Waikato, Chiefs and NZ Maaroi player Dwayne Sweeny who shared their experiences in professional sport.
Breaking down barriers to provide personal development opportunities to disadvantaged or minority youth, and using sport and mentoring as a major vehicle for creating stronger people.
Many New Zealanders miss the opportunity to gain the above mentioned benefits due to barriers to sports participation. These barriers may be real or perceived, external or self imposed. No matter what the barrier, The Waterboy aims to help as many New Zealanders seek the benefits of participating in sport and in doing so creating stronger communities within New Zealand.
