Rowing

We have started the rowing season off with new rowers and coaches, two of the senior rowers have just finished school and are now coaching rowing. Our rowers are currently rowing in the Hamilton Rowing Colours and will be rowing in school suits at the North Island Schools and Maadi Championships in 2023. The rowers have been training for six weeks and are now looking at technical work around the stroke along with fitness. They have already had one regatta and will be involved in three more this year. We will see our rowers in the 2023 training four times a week and in two Camps. These events are very important to our rowers and we will be watching them as the season progresses.

Volleyball

With Volleyball now well underway, we have seen huge gains made by our Junior players. The gym has been full at lunchtimes with Volleyballers having fun and shaping their skills. The difference that our coaches are making is immense and it’s so good to see all teams competing well within their divisions.

As we head into the business end of the Junior Season, our Junior Premier Boys team remain unbeaten so far in Division 1. A huge thanks to all our amazing coaches who are creating a great vibe within Volleyball:- Jack Sheppard & Mila Gandeza, Keirryn Hintz, Jess Pasene, Kyla Te Wano Greensill,  Alycia Begbie, Tyler Wilson and Mitchell Stone and of course our Head of Volleyball Mr Uivel.

Senior Volleyball begins in term 1, so keep an eye out for Senior Volleyball trials early December.

Beach Volleyball

Big news this week is that we have secured the Coaching services of NZ Beach Volleyball star Shaunna Polley. Shaunna has a small break in her competition program, which is great news for our Beach Volleyballers as Shaunna is super excited to be working with our Beach Volleyball teams as they prepare for the Beach Nationals early February.

Futsal

Futsal is flying at Hillcrest High. With record numbers our teams have made a solid start to the new season under the guidance of our excellent coaches:- Davis Vhavha, Olivia Hooper and Sean McLeod who are all committed again to taking Futsal at Hillcrest to new levels.

Cricket

What an awesome pre season our Cricketers have had, which has made an immediate impact with a win 1st up v St Paul’s in the top schools division. With winter indoor nets, a camp plus warm up games v Hauraki Plains and St Paul’s our senior 1st XI are looking forward to showing their skills in the Top Division this term.

Our coaches have a real focus on more game time in developing skills and game awareness, so we have a Monday team playing Last Man Stands, plus we have a Wednesday T20 team especially for those who can’t commit to playing Saturdays.
