Teacher Only Day
March 27, 2024
Teacher only day this term focussed on te ao Māori.
The morning began with a kōrero from alumni and Ngāti Hauā representative Adam Whauwhau, who spoke to staff about the tukutuku panels in the Auditorium. This was followed by a presentation on Te Tiriti Waitangi by the Social Sciences Department. Later in the day, staff went on an ‘amazing race’, moving around the school to complete different activities, ranging from reflective conversations to Māori language skills.
A favourite part of the day for many was the morning tea – staff were asked to bring a dish that was special to them as a part of the whakawhanaungatanga aspect of the day. Staff shared dishes from all over the world and special family recipes. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about where our staff are from, and what is special to them.
