Year 12 Drama perform “The Birthday Girl”

Year 12 Drama performed ‘The Birthday Girl’ is a new kiwi comedic version by award-winning playwright Albert Belz (Ngati Porou, Nga Puhi, Ngati Pokai) from Tuesday 18th June until Friday 21st of June.

This play is based on a tragicomedy called ‘The Visit’ by Swiss playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt.

“The Birthday Girl” is set in Aotearoa, in the small fictional town of Heitiki, where all businesses and industry is on the verge of closure. That is until one of its daughters, billionaire Eloise Bisou returns. But is she here to bless the town with her millions or burn it down for revenge? Now, twenty-five years later she has her knife out for one man, but also the town that let her down. And she’s got all the money in the world to fuel her revenge and sharpen her knife.

The students were brilliant and the audience was laughing every single night.
