On Tuesday 11 August, graduates from Toi Whakaari performed for 80 ākonga from our Whānau, Te Reo Māori, PAC, and Drama classes.
The day opened with our kura karakia, followed by Matua Wharenui’s mihi to welcome the crew. After a waiata tautoko, the production got underway.
Although the performance was delivered entirely in te reo Māori, our ākonga came away pleasantly surprised at how much they were able to follow. They asked some fantastic questions of the crew afterwards, a real sign of how engaged they were throughout.
A wonderful showcase of performance, and of gender equality through a rangatahi Māori lens.
