On Friday, 22 August, the Hillcrest High School Orchestra, Concert Band and Guitar Group ” Don’t Fret it” performed at the ITM music Festival at the Waikato University.
It was a fantastic day with music groups from all over the Waikato and BOP performing and enjoying music. The Concert band and Guitar group received well-earned silver awards.
Guitar group member Amberley Pollock was awarded an outstanding performer award.
The highlight of the day was the Hillcrest High School Orchestra, which was one of only two orchestras to receive a Gold award AND a Highly Commended.
This is an outstanding achievement considering the Orchestra has only been rehearsing for 4 months after being re-established—massive congratulations to the Orchestra Director and Conductor, Mr Daniel Shin and Concert Master Justine Hua.
