Congratulations to Yr 9 Students Sienna Murray and Olivia Ronald (Te Puea) who are the Student of the Week for Term 2 Weeks 4 & 5.
Mrs. Gregory wanted to recognise the exceptional efforts of Sienna and Olivia – who recently led a highly engaging and innovative revision activity on human digestion for their Science class.
As part of the unit wrap-up, students were tasked with designing a revision activity. Sienna and Olivia created a fully interactive escape room that consisted of four sequential challenges, each reinforcing key learning about the digestive system. The first task involved ten riddles linked to organ functions; the second, a visual organ identification and spelling challenge. The third required students to answer ten short-answer questions focused on accessory organs and the digestion of various food types. Finally, students cracked a code and searched for a four-digit pin hidden in the classroom.
In addition to the quality and creativity of the content, the girls showed leadership in rearranging class groupings, thoughtfully encouraging collaboration outside of usual social circles. The activity was completed successfully by the whole class, who remained engaged and were rewarded for their participation.
Sienna and Olivia’s initiative, creativity, and collaborative spirit strongly reflected our school values.
This year the Student of the Week is sponsored by Parry Group of McDonald’s Restaurants Hamilton, covering their Five Cross Roads, Hamilton East, and Chartwell locations. Each recipient will receive a voucher to spend at one of the Parry Group’s Restaurants. We wish to acknowledge the amazing support of Rob and Linley Parry.
