Staff News: Staff Farewells

June 30, 2024

Please find below some updates on staffing as we head into Term 3. As always all of our staff contact details are available on our school website.

Last week we said farewell to two staff members.

Whaea Niki Crombie has moved to a permanent position at Rototuna Senior High School. Niki was heavily involved in our sports program with Touch, Turbo Touch and Netball. Whaea Niki was also our lead whaanau teacher and was an outstanding role model for our rangatahi. We are very sad to lose Niki and we wish her all the best at her new Kura.

We also said farewell to Jodie Mason who has been with us from the start of the year in a Long Term relieving position in the English Faculty. Jodie is heading off to a permanent position with a Tertiary Education provider. Jodie in her short time built powerful relationships with her students and will be missed.

Our HOD of Art Ruth Hickman-Goodall who has been with us for 8 and 1/2 years is relocating to Auckland at the end of this Term. Ruth has been a passionate leader for our Arts Department and has driven the Visual Arts Dept to new heights. She leaves the Department in the good hands of new HOD Alice Alva who has been with us since the start of the year. Alice is a passionate artist who has a clear vision for continuing to engage and challenge our art students.

At the end of this term we also have HoD Fabrics Mrs Ashleigh Teahan going on Maternity Leave. We wish Ashleigh all the best and look forward to her returning in 2025.

Next term we welcome Steven Crooks (English Faculty), Megan Hockly (Fabrics), Jane Reilly (Art) and Wharenui Hawera (Te Reo Maaori) to our Kura and we will intorduce them in our first Term 3 Newsletter.
