On the 17th of March ten of our students competed in the Regional Sheilah Winn competition at Te Awamutu College. There were sixteen entries on the day from six different schools in the Waikato. Our fifteen minute scene directed by Amber Ganley, with support and guidance from Elizabeth Pamment, came in second place. Karissa Wan entered a five minute student directed scene in which she performed alongside Anika Tait. Each year one student per region is selected for direct entry to the National Shakespeare Schools Production. Karissa deservedly won direct entry! Karissa will be 1 of 50 students nationwide selected for NSSP. 24 of these students will then be selected to attend workshops and perform at the Globe Theatre in London.
We are beyond proud of the high calibre of Performing Arts students that attend Hillcrest High School.
