Senior Exams start next week
September 7, 2023
Just a reminder that Year 11 to 13 students will be involved in exams and other assessments beginning on Monday 11 September for the final two weeks of term. Normal classes for senior students will not operate. All senior students have been given an exam timetable, and we have also attached one with this email.
These exams serve several purposes:
-
They provide the grades required for derived grades if a student is unable to sit the NCEA exams next term
-
They provide much needed exam practice for our students in readiness for the NCEA exams
-
They give staff and students an indication of where students are placed with their learning so areas of weakness can be identified and worked on next term prior to the NCEA exams.
As well as the exams, there will be numerous opportunities for students to attend tutorials, work on their practical assessments such as in Art and Technology, and also to attend some reassessment opportunities. Staff have made the students in their classes aware of when these opportunities will take place.
We have talked to the students about making the very most of these two weeks. The fortnight is critical as we build towards the end of the year.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Hauora teacher or Dean.
