Fabulous to see Hillcrest back in the top two spots of the Waikato Schools Debating Premier Final! It was an exciting evening for the team and their families.
Congratulations to Poppy Doran, Shambhavi Das, Chloe Neville and Khadija Tayyab for making it this far. The motion details for the final were as follows:
INFO – The “Merit Machine” is a technology implant installed in one’s brain that, when activated, allows one to accurately gauge the overall effort someone else has put into an action they have taken.
MOTION: This House Prefers a world where the Merit Machine is widely accessible.
Despite giving everything on the night, Hillcrest lost the debate. The audience, however, could not be disappointed. The debate was high quality, energetic and brought lots of smiles and applause. Well done to the team, and thanks to all the supporters, including our Senior Open semi-finalists who came along to cheer.
