Rowan Giles off to row at Boston University in 2025
October 14, 2024
Rowan Giles has accepted an offer from Boston University to be a Division 1 rower and will study at the Questrum Business school from 2025-2029.
She has received a “full ride” scholarship which covers tuition fees, housing, food, health insurance, books and a flight back to NZ each year. This scholarship is worth a substantial amount of money annually.
Rowan was recruited after being selected for one of the NZ development camps and she visited a number of schools in the states before narrowing down on Boston as her preferred option.
As a Division 1 athlete Rowan will be exposed to the highest level of competition in the USA and will be involved in an extensive training programme that includes access to world class coaching, medical teams (nutrition, physio, sleep specialists etc) athletic analysis and academic tutoring.
Rowan gives her thanks to the Hillcrest High and Hamilton Rowing Club programmes for providing such great coaching for providing the platform for her to take this opportunity. She gives particular thanks to coaches Blair Currie and Georgia Allen for giving her the skills, knowledge and mental fortitude that she needs to be successful in this sport.
