In a celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit, Hillcrest High School and Rototuna High Schools came together for a mid-season Sports Exchange .

The event brought students, staff, and supporters from both schools together in a vibrant showcase of talent and camaraderie. The afternoon was packed with close matches, sportsmanship, and a shared passion for excellence on and off the field. This exchange not only highlighted the fierce yet friendly rivalry between the two schools but also reinforced the spirit of unity and mutual respect that sport inspires.

HHS First XI Football Boys

The event saw premier teams from both schools competing across four major codes: Football, Netball, Hockey, and Basketball. Matches were played at both school campuses, with students and staff supporting their athletes and celebrating healthy competition.

Rototuna High School came away with a strong overall performance, winning 7 of the 11 contested games. Hillcrest High secured 3 victories, and the match between the First XI Boys Football teams ended in a well-fought draw, reflecting the balance of skill and determination on both sides. Several games came right down to the wire, showcasing the high level of competition. Both the Junior and Senior Premier Boys Basketball teams battled through nail-biting finishes, with Rototuna narrowly edging ahead. In netball, the Premier Reserve game was decided by a single point, highlighting just how evenly matched the teams were.

The day was a great display of school pride, sportsmanship, and talent. While results went in favour of Rototuna this year, the real win was the sense of connection and community between the two schools. With passionate play, respectful rivalry, and plenty of memorable moments, the 2025 Sports Exchange was a great success – and the excitement is already building for next year’s rematch.
