On the 2nd of July the Music Department took 50 students to Rotorua to attend Rhapsody Rotorua Festival, an annual festival for young musicians to meet, play and hang out with like-minded people from Australia and New Zealand.
It was a super busy day, as we only attended for one day of the festival. But it was so exciting for our students to meet and be adjudicated by industry professionals who helped them with their performances. They also attended workshops – the choir joined in a workshop with choirs from Australia and around New Zealand giving them the chance to sing with a way bigger choir than they are used to.
In the evening, our Orchestra and Choir performed in the Showcase event in front of a crowd of music lovers.
Overall it was a great day and all the students learnt a lot that they could take away and use to continue to work on their craft.
