Reminder: Hillcrest High School Junior Diploma

July 2, 2024

Junior students are having progress conversations with their Hauora teachers in Hauora time at the moment. These conversations are about the student’s current progress in gaining junior points from their classroom learning and extra-curricular activities.

This is a valuable time for teachers to connect with their students and for students to reflect on their progress, work effort and attitude so far. Remember, students and whaanau can also check this progress on the KAMAR portal at any time.

Next term at the end of Week 1, whaanau can look forward to receiving a mid year report which will show their young person’s progress to date in all their subjects and the extra-curricular activities they have been involved in so far.

Remember…

Each junior year offers 200 points in total. 160 points come from the learning in class and up to 40 points can come from school-basedextra curricular activities.

In Year 9, we expect students to gain 130 points from the 200 available

In Year 10, we expect students to gain 120 points from the 200 available, of which at least 100 must be learning points.

In both Year 9 and 10 we ask students to earn some points in every subject that they do. They also need to try all assessments, even if they do not achieve every assessment.
