As we reach the conclusion of what has been a long and incredibly busy term, I want to take a moment to express how incredibly proud I am of our students.
They have dug deep and worked hard right up to the last day in the classroom. Alongside their academic focus, it has been fantastic to see so many students throwing themselves into the extra-curricular life of the school and participating so competitively in House activities.
At this point in the year, I must reiterate the vital importance of students completing all set work, and completing it to the absolute best of their ability. Developing these robust study and work routines now is absolutely crucial, for our juniors to develop good work habits and for our senior students to gain the best qualifications they can. By pushing through the challenges and maintaining high standards, they are gaining the essential self-management skills they need for their upcoming qualifications, their futures, and for life.
A core part of our school pride is how we present ourselves to the community, and we ask for our parents’ absolute support in maintaining our high uniform standards. As the weather stays cooler, please remember that proper long-sleeved shirts or blouses are available for purchase from NZ Uniforms.
Please note: Wearing non-regulation long-sleeved tops underneath a short-sleeved school shirt is not acceptable.
Additionally, our school expectations regarding jewellery and facial hair must be followed by all students. We ask that parents firmly back us on these regulations at home rather than questioning or debating them; when we present a united front, it allows us to keep our focus entirely on your child’s learning and well-being.
Excellent attendance is a non-negotiable foundation for academic success, and this applies equally to our Year 12 and Year 13 students, who must be present for all classes, including RAPID. RAPID class is not optional; it is a critical part of our school structure. It serves as a space for vital one-on-one mentoring, receiving essential messages, attending level assemblies, and conducting uniform checks. It also allows staff to follow up on attendance matters face-to-face with students immediately. Being at school on time every day and fully investing in every single aspect of school life are the very building blocks that cultivate strong character and resilience for life beyond our gates.
