What are you going to be studying and where? What are you excited about ?!

Engineering (type undecided) at Cornell University in the USA (exact location: Ithaca, about 5 hours driving from New York)

Living in a new country, exploring the different clubs and events, meeting people from all over the world, trying different dining halls, researching in the different labs and facilities
Tell us about your application process to study in the USA, what did you need to do and what requirements did you need to meet?

Majority of the application process occurs on Common Application platform

Personal statement about yourself and backgrounds

Each university you decide to apply to will usually have a couple of short essays

10 extracurriculars + 5 awards/honors

Two recommendation letters , usually from school teachers

Take the SAT

NCEA, try your best at L1,2,3 because they(USA uni’s) look at your grades from the past four years
What advice would you give students at HHS who have the same goals as you?

Try to establish a positive relationship with your teachers, e.g participate in events they led, listen and ask questions in class. This makes it easier for teachers to write good recommendation letters

Get involved in school and local community: Captains and councils, volunteering clubs, sports, music groups

Pursue your passions: music, arts, STEM, culture, sports
