Kaliyah Fatupatio heading to USA

July 20, 2024

Our very own Kaliyah Fatupaito has been selected to participate in this initiative on their upcoming trip to Silicon Valley in San Francisco, California USA happening in December

Celebrating an amazing achievement!

Her engagement with the kaupapa and Matua Taz (her Kaihautū) over the past 2 years has played a pivotal role in her landing a spot on this trip.

Nōku Te Ao, previously Āmua Ao and supported by NZQA, is a kaupapa that broadens the horizons of our Pūhoro rangatahi through international trips. These journeys expose them to diverse STEM opportunities and other indigenous communities, aiming to expand their STEM prospects and reaffirm their unique identity (tuakiritanga). Participants have visited destinations like Hawai’i, NASA, Singapore, and Taiwan, with many pursuing STEM careers and becoming ambassadors who forge new pathways for future generations.

A word from her Kaihautū, Matua Taz: “Kaliyah has been one of the most engaged and consistent students. She stands out to me for the wairua she brings to our sessions, and her level of Mauitanga (curiosity). I’m extremely proud of Kaliyah and am excited for her to receive this once in a lifetime opportunity.”

We are so proud!
Congratulations Kaliyah !!
