Over the weekend Jess Licht (1st speaker) and Janet Guo (3rd speaker), along with Levi Pruden from HBHS (2nd speaker), represented Waikato in the New Zealand Schools’ Debating Championship.
After an intensely competitive three days of debating, Waikato made it through to the final, where they lost to Auckland in a close 2-1 split decision. At the prizegiving Janet received the Andrew Stockley Cup after being named the Captain of the Aotearoa New Zealand Schools’ Debating team; she will compete in the World Schools’ Debating Championships in August. These are outstanding achievements from our debaters.
