Nepal Expedition
October 22, 2024
Check out an exciting opportunity for 2025!
Namaste!!
Planning and preparation is well under way for the inaugural World Challenge trip to Nepal. A team of 15 are due to depart on the 21st September 2025.
Students will spend a few days in Kathmandu before travelling across country to Pokhara and embarking on the 9 day return trek to the Annapurna Base Camp, located at 4000m above sea level. This part of the journey will challenge all involved and firmly plant the team in the middle of the Himalayas. Expect to see Himalayan yaks, tahr, langurs and if we are lucky Asiatic Bears and snow leopards.
In a tradition first established by Sir Edmund Hillary himself the team will spend 3 days working on a community project as part of the programme.
The next 12 months will see the team involved in a pre-trip programme to ensure students are properly prepared for the experience that awaits them.
This trip is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of those offered at Hillcrest High School. If you think you are “made of the right stuff” and are looking for that once in a lifetime experience then contact the teacher in charge Mr Sean Cosford. Currently there are only a handful of spaces left for suitable candidates.
Above all remember these insightful words: – “20 years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do, than by the ones you did do” – Mark Twain.
