Maryam Adegbite wins the Yr 12 Concours National Speaking Conversation

November 18, 2024

I am super happy to report that Maryam Adegbite, a Year 12 French student, won the Yr 12 Concours oral which is a national speaking conversation! This is no small feat as Maryam competed against all other students of her age level around the country.

First, she was assessed by Catherine Peacoke, the President of the Alliance Française in the Waikato, and finished first in her region which then qualified for the national finals. She then had another conversation with Mrs Peacoke who recorded it and the video was sent to the finals jury members: Paul Soupaya-Valliama (Assistant Linguistique, Embassy of France) and Simon McGinley (National French Adviser, Tui Tuia Learning Circle).

Bravo à toi, Maryam!

Mr. Menard, Teacher of French
