In November 2025, Lily made her A-League debut for the Wellington Phoenix, competing at the highest level of the women’s domestic game in Australasia. Taking the field as a forward, she represents one of only a handful of Waikato footballers to reach this elite level in recent years.

Her rapid progression through the Phoenix system saw her not only become part of the senior squad but also shine within their Academy team, who made the final of the Kate Sheppard Cup in August 2025 – New Zealand’s premier women’s knockout football competition.

Making Waves on the International Scene

Lily’s rise has also seen her pull on the silver fern. In September 2025, she starred for the New Zealand U19 national team, scoring two goals on debut against Tahiti, an incredible milestone and a powerful indicator of her potential at international level.

Leadership Roots at Hillcrest

Before achieving success on the pitch, Lily was known at Hillcrest as a natural leader. As Rutherford House Captain in 2024, she played a key role in strengthening house spirit and promoting participation across sports, arts and cultural activities.

Her leadership style blended positivity, inclusiveness and determination – qualities reflected in her professionalism today.

A Role Model for Future Athletes

Lily’s journey reminds current Hillcrest students that pathways to success often begin through school leadership, commitment to sport, and a willingness to work hard when no one is watching.

Key messages from Lily’s story:

  • Take opportunities when they come, even if they’re challenging

  • Hard work off the field is just as important as performance on it

  • Representing your peers proudly prepares you to represent your country confidently

Looking Ahead

With such strong early achievements at club and international level, Lily’s future in the sport looks incredibly bright. As she continues her professional football journey, we look forward to following her progress and celebrating further milestones.

Ka mau te wehi, Lily – from the fields at Hillcrest to the A-League arena, you continue to inspire our students to dream big and chase their goals.
