Volleyball

With a new Head of Code in place Hans Uivel, we have seen a huge influx of interest in Junior Volleyball. Trails have taken place with 8 teams selected for a mid September start to the Junior Volleyball season.

Hillcrest are grateful to a number of quality coaches who again are inspired to work within our Hillcrest Volleyball program …

Jack Sheppard & Mila Gandeza, Keirryn Hintz, Jess Pasene, Kyla Te Wano Greensill,  Alycia Begbie, Tyler Wilson and Mitchell Stone are all valuable coaches within our Junior Program for term 4.

Senior Volleyball begins in term 1, so keep an eye out for Senior Volleyball musters before the end of the year.

Futsal

Sadly Ben Hill our Head of Code for Futsal has moved his family focus to Auckland and will no longer be coaching within Hillcrest Futsal program. We have however retained our excellent core of young skilled coaches. Davis Vhavha, Olivia Hooper and Sean McLeod are all committed again to supporting our Futsal players.

Our Seniors Boys will be in action early this season with a BossnGoss tournament in the 1st week of October Holidays in Papakura.

Cricket

Preparations for the coming cricket season are well underway. It has been difficult to keep our keen young cricketers out of the nets during the winter – often seen practicing to all hours, rain or shine!

The off season prep has involved Indoor Nets at Waikato Uni through August & September, with a real focus on building a foundation of quality basics. Pre Season trials are now underway in September which involve outdoor nets, fitness/fielding plus pre season fixtures against Hauraki Plains College & St Paul’s coming up before the start early in Term 4, plus 2 x musters for our Girls before the October holiday break.

We look forward to another successful season of Sun, Fun & Growth within our impressive Cricket program.

Hillcrest have secured an impressive array of Coaches including:

Grant Bradburn, Pieter Blignaut, Ben Kennedy, Luke Kennedy, Mark Bailey

Trevor Mathieson, Alex Hennebry, Sam Roberts, Tom Roberts

Andrew Strawbridge, Petra Batters

Rowing

Our new Head of Rowing at school Raima Turner-Abrahams has generated lots of new enthusiasm among our novices and many are now enjoying Rowing for the 1st time with new Hamilton Rowing Coach Kylee Corboy.

The House comp was a real feature last week, with lots of students enjoying the chance to jump on an Erg and see how far & fast they could go. Te Puea were too strong and hold a slender lead now in the House Sports race!
