House events have been underway this term and we’ve seen some incredible participation and success!
In Week 2, we had Tug o War, which was very suspenseful and competitive! The final match came down to Te Puea vs Rutherford, and both houses held up an amazing fight. After 5 rounds, the score was 3-2 to Rutherford, who took it home with one final victory tug. The SSL vs Staff game that took place afterwards was nothing short of hilarious and exciting for everyone involved! After every round that the SSL lost, the staff team had to go down a player, a unique twist that made the game very interesting!
On Friday 15th May, we had Cross Country, which racked up great participation in both the competitive and House run events. In particular, the House run was a popular activity that saw students across all houses having a great time. At the end of the day, Hillary emerged as the winning house!
In Week 5, we had the first ever House debate competition, which attracted both experienced debaters and keen students willing to try something new! The final match on Thursday came down to Snell vs Te Puea on the topic of whether or not money could buy happiness, a tough but very engaging debate. Huge congratulations to debaters Feha Akter, Vinuli Mudalige, Laiba Hannah, and Angelina Maria Ashlin, who secured the victory for Te Puea! A special mention goes to Jessica Murphy, who was awarded the best speaker in the whole competition!
With the success of these fantastic competitions, we can’t wait to see everyone involved in the upcoming events this term, which include the Can Drive, House basketball, Tech week, and Hillcrest Fittest! Keep an eye out on the social media pages and the school notices for more information!
