Lunchtime in the library was buzzing with energy recently as students gathered for the much-anticipated House Trivia Competition.
Each of our five houses fielded both junior and senior teams, competing across five exciting rounds of general knowledge.
The topics tested a broad range of skills and interests, with rounds on Film and Literature, History, Science & Nature, Te Ao Māori, and Sport. Students worked together under time pressure, showcasing both their knowledge and their teamwork in a fun but fiercely competitive environment.
After a tight contest, Sheppard House came out on top, taking the win with a strong performance across all categories. Hillary followed in second place, with Snell taking third. Rutherford secured fourth, while House Competition leaders Te Puea rounded out the placings in fifth.
A huge thank you to all students who took part, and to our House Captains who ran the event. The enthusiasm and house spirit on display were outstanding – we’re already looking forward to the next round of house competitions!
Updated House Points
With the conclusion of House Trivia, the race for the House Cup is heating up. The gap between Te Puea, still holding onto first place, and the chasing pack has narrowed significantly. Rutherford and Hillary are now tied just three points behind, setting up a thrilling second half of the year. Sheppard are in fourth only one point behind 2nd following their trivia victory, while Snell continues to show strong spirit in fifth.
Stay tuned for more ways to earn points – every event counts! Next week we have Hillcrest High’s Fittest event.
