On Tuesday 5th May we hosted our very first HYROX competition.

Classified as the ultimate “Clash of the Codes,” this event brought together athletes from various sporting codes – from hockey to football to netball and so on.

7 Stations of Grit

Each exercise was designed to test physical and mental grit. It wasn’t just about speed; it was about the transition from high-intensity cardio to strength in which the students did an amazing job at. They battled through 6 exercise stations with a 500m run in between each station, which were:

  1. Ski Erg (500m/700m)

  2. Burpees (2 Lengths of the tennis court)

  3. Row (500m/700m)

  4. Weighted Farmers Carry (2 Lengths of the tennis court)

  5. Weighted Lunges(2 Lengths of the tennis court)

  6. Weighted Wall Balls(30/50)

Well done to every participant that took part and for your hard work and effort that you put into getting your team member across the finish line. This was no easy task, yet you all did such an amazing job! The placings were as follows:

JUNIOR DIVISION

1st Place

Finnian Susi & Sacha Burger

2nd Place

Léa Burger & Olivia Ferreira

3rd Place

Neve Chittick & Kate Townshend

SENIOR DIVISION

1st Place

Max Heslop & Nate Taylor

2nd Place

Tobyn Newman-Lander & Remy Fisher

3rd Place

Jack Stevens & Isaac Hannah

Beyond the medals and other great prizes, the event was a success. It bridged the gap between different sporting codes, brought team members together and pushed each individual to their best ability.

The sweat has dried and the equipment has been packed away, but the buzz remains. Given the awesome turnout and the high level of athleticism on display, We hope to continue the school HillyRox as an annual tradition for years to come.

Well done to all competitors! See you on the starting line next year.
