Students from the Hillcrest High School and Zine Club attended Kirikiriroa Hamilton Zine Fest on Saturday 16th of May to sell, swap and share their zines and other creative bits!
A huge congrats to Katie-Mae DeWys (Year 10) who was runner up in the Poppies Tamariki Zine Competition and Sophie Orum (Year 13) and Dan Nguyen (Year 11) who were the winner and runner up respectively in the Mark1 Comics Rangatahi Zine Competition.
Miriam Adams, Sheina Angon, Sheena Zheng and Shakya Jayawardena also all created zines and stickers over the last term about a whole range of subjects to sell at Zine Fest 2025, while Poet Nadia Solomon created zines with the Hilly Scribes writing group over the Term. Students from Zine Club helped out on our table throughout the day!
It was awesome to see our staff attending the event and supporting our student too!
It was a very successful day, the students had so much fun interacting with the other zine makers and buying other peoples creations.
Looking forward to next year!
