Hillcrest High Students Launch Innovative Study Tool

This year’s Innovation Academy at the University of Waikato produced some outstanding ideas, but Year 9 students Veer Patel and Fletcher Friis have taken theirs one step further by turning their idea into a working product.

The pair designed a Chrome extension called Study and Manage, aimed at supporting student learning, boosting motivation, and reducing unproductive screen time. Unlike typical AI platforms that simply provide answers, Study and Manage’s AI search feature offers hints, strategies, and study tips. The study tool also features a revision timer and quick links to useful learning resources.

The extension is already live and available on all Hillcrest High student accounts. To use it, simply click the logo in the top right corner of your browser. With externals just around the corner, senior students are especially encouraged to give it a try and see how it can support their revision.

Veer and Fletcher have also entered Study and Manage into the national Solve for Tomorrow competition, run by Samsung and MOTAT, which challenges young New Zealand innovators to use STEAM to make a positive impact in their communities.
