More than 20 years after leaving Hillcrest High School, a group of former classmates recently reunited for a special camping weekend — this time with partners, children, caravans, tents, and plenty of stories to share.
What began as friendships formed in classrooms, sports teams, and around school grounds has clearly stood the test of time, with the group gathering to reconnect, reminisce, and create new memories together with the next generation now joining in on the fun.
Among the familiar faces were Tim Harris, Carol Morris, Daniel Versteeg, Johan Stapleton, Steve Sharp, David Sharp, Joel Arnold, Cameron Ward, Wendy Pretswell, Ben Fleetwood, Jeremy Farr, and Daniel van Praagh.
The reunion was a reminder that some of the strongest connections formed during school years can continue well into adulthood. While careers, families, and life have taken everyone in different directions, the shared experiences and friendships from Hillcrest remain an important part of their story.
Looking at the photo, there may be a few faces the wider Hillcrest community still recognises — just perhaps a little more “mature” than they were 18 years ago!
It’s always special to see alumni friendships continuing across generations and to be reminded that Hillcrest is not just a school, but a community that stays with people long after they leave.
