Congratulations to our rock climbing team, who represented Hillcrest High School with distinction at the Waikato Regional Rock Climbing Competition.
Our students displayed outstanding determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day, with many competing in their very first climbing competition. They embraced the challenge with confidence and achieved some fantastic results against strong regional competition.
The team event was a particular highlight, with our Girls’ Team finishing 2nd and our Mixed Team placing 3rd overall.

Junior Girls
Boulder: Anna Hills (4th), Astrid Williamson-Jones (5th)
Top Rope: Anna Hills (3rd), Astrid Williamson-Jones (4th)
Senior Girls
Top Rope: Sash Melman (1st), Isla Taylor (3rd)
Boulder: Sash Melman (1st), Isla Taylor (2nd), Claire Gwilliam (6th)
Senior Boys
Nate Taylor placed 7th in both the Boulder and Top Rope events.
A special mention also goes to former Hillcrest student Sash Melman, who delivered an exceptional performance by winning both the Senior Female Top Rope and Senior Female Boulder titles.
