Arts Fest – what a week! Monday’s events started off with a bang, starting with finger painting and mural making at interval and our annual student vs teacher theatresports at lunch where our teachers stole the win with a final score of 26-24. On Tuesday, students had the chance to get a personalised caricature drawn by some of our very own talented students at interval, and at lunch they sang their hearts out during karaoke and open mic. Wednesday was jam packed with an improv song show at interval where students got to hear songs about lukewarm spaghetti, serenades to Mr. Cook and more and alongside our bustling Yr 12 Market day, we had face painting, as well as more caricatures and karaoke where students were even lucky enough to see Mr. Whiting sing his heart out to Hotel California. Thursday was another busy day, with a “Guess the Artist – Hillcrest High School Edition” quiz at interval and at lunch we held the annual Hillcrest High School Drag Race which proved to be our biggest event of the week! We watched as three Drag Queens as well as one Drag King performed their hearts out, with Jethrow-it-back taking the win in the end. We would especially like to thank our Skittles group at Hillcrest High School who helped with the organising and executing of everything to make this event as big and enjoyable as it was! On Friday we brought all our energy to jump jam at interval, and at lunch we finally put our feet up to relax while watching a mini screening of Hillcrest High School media studies pieces.
From 9:00am Monday to 3:20pm Friday, Hillcrest High School was all about the arts, and the buzz that this week brought about is sure to leave everyone in a good mood for the following weeks. Huge thanks to the arts council members for all their hard work, and the assistance from the entire arts faculty – this week would not have run so smoothly without everyone! If you missed out on any events this year and you’ll be back in 2023, make sure to go along and give everything a go, the memories are sure to last a long time!!
