Helene Barron (nee Isaac) is a former Head Girl of Hillcrest High School. Helene is a world class physio, sponsored trail runner, coach, mother, wife, sister, friend and legend.

In February 2023 Helene placed 5th in the World Series Ultra Marathon event, the Tarawera 100mile ultramarathon. A week later, she left for the World Champs in Georgia in her role as a Performance Physiotherapist with the NZ Ski and Snowboard team. Two weeks later, in her bathroom in Georgia, Helene found a lump on her tongue, and her battle with cancer began. In May 2023 a large part of Helene’s tongue was removed, and she began intensive radiation treatment for the months of July and August.

Onwards…Beyond the Finish Line is the documented journey of the battles and resilience Helene and her family fought during this time. Come and be moved and inspired by our own Hillcrest wahine toa, meet Helene, and raise funds for the Cancer Society. Screening at the Lido Theatre, Thursday 1 May, 6-8pm.
