The Hillcrest Trio (Laurinda Lan, Sin Hui Lai and Irina Kishi-Rychkova) performed at the District Round of the Chamber Music Contest at the Gallagher Concert Chamber, Waikato University School of Music.
This contest has been held annually for the past 50 years and is the longest running music competition for secondary school students. There were 14 groups from all over Waikato as well as a group from Auckland’s top public schools.
The group performed a flute trio by Kuhlau and were placed one of two highly commended. This is a great achievement as they will now be considered for the semi-final spot for the National competition.
The girls have been playing together for a number of years and were coached by Elsie Kane, our wonderful flute and woodwind teacher.
