Celia Griffiths awarded Dame Malvina Major Foundation Arts Excellence Awards for 2024

August 13, 2024

Celia Griffiths is among the very talented musical alumni that have graduated from Hillcrest High School where she said “I had a brilliant time.“

Whilst at the school she was heavily involved in Music and Drama and

commented that she was so well supported and nurtured by the staff in those

departments. In fact, she said that the staff in every department ,in fact, helped

her develop good self-trust and confidence in her ability to work hard.

“The leadership opportunities I was offered shaped the type of teacher and colleague I am now. The people I got to do school alongside have made me a person and a friend that I am proud to be.”

Hillcrest was a school that was full of great teachers. Celia is currently working as a violinist , and violin teacher and working in a cafe and she will me moving to Glasgow in September to start her Master of Music degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland after a robust interview and audition process.

The RCS is Scotland’s only conservatoire and students benefit from partnerships

with many of the professional organisations. Recent collaborations have included work with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony

Orchestra, Scottish Ensemble, Dunedin Consort, Scottish Opera, Hebrides

Ensemble and Red Note Ensemble.

We wish Celia well for her future studies and have included a link to her Givealittle page which will help fund her future studies.
