Last Friday Cameron’s Aunty Sharon Holt, a famous New Zealand author, came in for a visit to talk about her books in Te Reo Māori. The books were accompanied by a musical adaptation which showed us verbally the words for animals and insects in Te Reo Māori. Mrs R did a very impressive speech combining Maori and sign language together to welcome Sharon and her niece. Some of us had not experienced Te Reo to this level before her visit so it was nice to be exposed to our native language. This was a good experience for us as it was nice to get out of our comfort zone not only in Te Reo Maori but also in sign language. We are also trying to learn some sign language to communicate more as we have a member of the PAC who relies on it for communication.
