Arts Captains Tammy Hogarty and Rose Bowden alongside their Arts Council hosted Arts Fest from the 3rd to the 7th of August.
This week long series of events is a chance for the school to celebrate the Arts and have students and teachers who may not get a chance be involved in the Arts to see what it’s all about.
On Monday our awesome student bands alongside a teachers band came together to perform for the school at Battle of the Bands! This was an awesome event for all involved, thanks to all the students and teachers who took part.
On Tuesday, the Arts Council got everyone up and dancing with Jump Jam at interval, and at lunch hosted Teachers vs Students Theatresports – which always has a lot of fun and laughter involved.
Wednesday was a Visual Art focused day with an Art Showcase in the Auditorium all day displaying Junior and Senior Visual Arts work, and at lunch time the Visual Art Teachers competed in Pictionary against each other!
On Thursday there was a dance party in the Auditorium with students and teachers alike having a go at Just Dance. At lunch Student Director Katrina Lillas showed her production The Shakespeare Mashup which involved a range of students from Year 10 to Year 13.
We finished with a bang on Friday with some karaoke at interval, and the biggest event Staff Lip sync at lunch. This is always a very well attended and anticipated event for the students, as they get to see their teachers in a capacity they might not usually see. This year the Drama Department, Science Department, SLT and a blend of Tech, Deans and Maths performed and the Tech, Deans and Maths came out on top with their rendition of Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan.
Overall it was a fantastic week and everyone had a lot of fun! A big congrats to Tammy and Rose who organised everything excellently and a thank you to all the staff and students who got involved and helped it be such a success.
