Congratulations to Year 12 student Isabella Martin-Jury who was last week presented with the Altrusa Youth Award.
Altrusa Youth Award: Recognises Year 12 students for excellence in school life and community service, based on qualities like kindness, leadership, and academic achievement.
Isabella is a deeply empathetic young woman who values diversity and works to ensure everyone feels supported and included. She looks out for her peers, offering help when they need it, and seeks the right support from staff when she recognises someone may be struggling. Her maturity, respect, and ability to communicate with both peers and adults make her a role model within our Kura.
Academically, Isabella is exceptional. She is organised, diligent, and methodical in her approach to learning. As a Year 12 student excelling in Level 3 Calculus, she demonstrates both high achievement and determination. In Physics, she is engaged, focused, and independent, setting ambitious goals, seeking clarification when needed, and continually aiming to improve. She has participated in the Chinese Bridge programme and the International Chinese Speech Competition, showing initiative and a willingness to challenge herself.
Isabella sets high standards for herself and approaches every opportunity with enthusiasm, from playing in the Girls’ First XI hockey team and participating in school sports exchanges to her involvement in Book Club and Engineering in Action. On the sports field, she plays with integrity and fairness, encouraging teammates and showing respect to opponents and officials alike. Her commitment extends beyond sport, as she gives generously of her time as a school librarian and through volunteering in her church and wider community, always contributing with a genuine desire to help others.
In every aspect of school life, Isabella leads with kindness, diligence, and integrity. She honours her commitments, gives her best effort to every responsibility she takes on, and inspires those around her through her actions. She is a wonderful example of the values we aim to uphold and therefore a suitable recipient for our school of this year’s Altrusa Award.
