It was the year 1983, Sir Robert Muldoon was NZ Prime Minister, Aucklander Lorraine Downes was crowned Miss Universe in St Louis, Missouri, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited New Zealand for the first time, accompanied by their baby son, Prince William and long-serving prime minister and ex-Governor-General Keith Holyoake died in Wellington Hospital on 8 December.
At Hillcrest High School the late Jon Leitch was Principal, the school was in its 12th year, Mr. Whiting was coaching the 1st XV (check the pic) and the following students were all playing sport.
