Today, we come together as a school community to reflect on the significance of ANZAC Day — a time to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and service of New Zealanders and Australians in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping.
At Hillcrest High School, we recognise that ANZAC Day is not just about remembering the past — it’s about understanding the values that continue to shape who we are today: courage, resilience, unity, and respect. These values are as important in the 21st century as they were on the shores of Gallipoli in 1915.
As we reflect, let’s also look forward — committing ourselves to building a future where empathy, understanding, and peace guide our actions. Whether through service, kindness, or standing up for others, we all have a role to play in honouring the legacy of the ANZACs.
