Curriculum

The Hillcrest High School curriculum allows for a broad based curriculum at Years 9 to 11 and enables specialization at senior levels. It allows students to study subjects at different levels. It is flexible so that it caters as much as possible to student needs and the timetable will be organised to maximise students' subject choices. The curriculum also allows for transition, careers advice and work exploration. Our focus is on what engages young people in education.

Senior Curriculum (Years 11-13)
In the senior school, students are able to select subjects according to their ability, interest and requirements for future study and careers. All students are required to enrol in a full time programme of study which, for most students, consists of five NCEA subjects; some selected students may take a six subject programme. Compulsory subjects are: English (NCEA Level 1 and 2), Mathematics (NCEA Level 1) and Practical Physical Education (Years 11 and 12).
