National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA)
An extensive range of subjects offering both Achievement and Unit Standards are available throughout NCEA Levels 1 -3. Students will be assessed internally and externally for credits towards this qualification. Approximately 76% of assessment is via achievement standards at level one, two and three.
Level 4 Scholarship
Hillcrest High School has a tradition of exceptional success in the NCEA Level 4 Scholarship examinations, and is regularly ranked in the top schools in NZ in gaining Scholarships and Top Scholar Awards. Students are identified as a potential Scholarship candidate early in the year and assisted in their preparation through specific programmes of extension and mentoring.
Cambridge Examinations
Cambridge AS Mathematics and English Literature is offered to selected students in conjunction with NCEA Level 2. These courses provide invaluable extension activities and provide in-depth study in preparation for NCEA Level 4 Scholarship. Pass rates are consistently outstanding for students who study these alternatives.
