NZQA Fees and Financial Assistance Information

Entry procedures and payment

Preliminary entries are e-mailed to NZQA from May onwards. This entry is based on the courses students are enrolled in at that time. Students should periodically take advantage of their personal NZQA logon and password to check their internal grades.

Students are given a printout and are required to check their external entries in term 3.
Entry fees are due to the school before the end of August.
 

Fees for 2011 have been set as follows:

New Zealand citizens/permanent residents

  • All NCEA credits and up to three scholarship subjects $76.70
  • For each scholarship subjects above three $76.70 per additional paper

International students/non-New Zealand residents

  • All NCEA credits $383.30
  • For each scholarship subject $102.20
If necessary, parents should contact the school Accounts Office to arrange to pay
by instalments to ensure the fee is paid by the end of August.
If fees are not paid by the due date, NZQA charges a late fee of $50, to be paid before
any results are released and external papers are returned.
Fees can be paid to the school Accounts Office at any time before the due date in August.

Financial assistance

Financial assistance is available to secondary school candidates entering standards on the National Qualifications Framework, and Scholarship. The purpose of financial assistance is to ensure that fees are not a barrier to participation in qualifications. Application forms must be with the school before August 26.

Eligibility for financial assistance

To be eligible for financial assistance the fee payer (normally the parent or guardian of the candidate) must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be receiving a Work and Income or Study Link benefit (benefit-based applications);
  • Have a joint family income that would entitle the applicant to receive a Community Services Card (income-based applications);
  • Have more than one child undertaking these qualifications in the same year with fees exceeding $200, irrespective of income (multiple candidate applications).
  • International fee-paying students are not eligible for financial assistance.
